Pastoral care has always been an acknowledged strength of Great Barr School which is valued by our young people and their parents, and this remains central to our Sixth Form provision.
All students are allocated a tutor group and a specialist form tutor. This group will be made up of students studying similar subjects to allow students and staff to offer academic support.
The Form Tutor is their first port of call and is the main link between our students and their teachers. Academic progress is monitored closely through regular assessments. Students meet with their tutors to discuss academic progress during morning tutorial time and on our regular Academic Review Days. If the progress of a student is felt to be unsatisfactory, early warning calls are made to parents and students are given help and advice on how best to make the required improvements.
