Exam Board: AQA

About

Mathematics at Advanced Level builds upon the Higher topics studied at GCSE.  We start to link many of the themes together to show how Mathematics can model the real world. We will start to form and solve more complex equations and see how these are used in the real world. The applied modules extend the basic concepts found in Higher GCSE to a level that is used practically by other subjects.

Assessment

Assessment is done using 3 module examinations in both year 12 and 13. Two of the modules are Pure Mathematics (the theoretical side) and one is an applied module (How Mathematics is used in the real world). There is no coursework element to either course. There  are 3 assessments at AS level and 3 taken at A2. All assessments now take place in June.
