The Director of Sixth Form is ultimately responsible for all academic, pastoral and curriculum matters. The Director of Sixth Form is supported by a team of Senior Tutors. This team is jointly responsible for monitoring progress, supporting Form Tutors and students, and for intervening in more serious academic and welfare issues.
The Sixth Form office is staffed by a full time Sixth Form Secretary through whom parents and students can contact the Pastoral and Senior staff when required.
Form Tutors not only provide support to students with their academic studies; they are also responsible for the students’ welfare and conduct and for helping them to make choices to plan their futures effectively. They will provide emotional support and advice, deal with behavioural concerns, and liaise with parents to ensure that we are all working together to remove any obstacles which might prevent our students achieving their full potential.
Through a programme of Personal Development sessions, Tutors support the students in developing interpersonal skills, self-confidence, and leadership qualities. They will also support students through the university application process and deliver sessions on topics of crucial importance and interest to young people; sex and relationships, managing personal finances, emotional well-being, self-esteem and empathy for others.
